Our Challenge
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Platform Software Engineer to join our Data & Analytics team. This role is ideal for a well-rounded engineer candidate is less focused on traditional data engineering pipelines and more on building robust, scalable, and user-friendly platform solutions that empower internal teams to deliver data-driven insights efficiently. Candidate will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and product teams to design and implement shared infrastructure, tools, and frameworks-primarily leveraging Java, Scala, Spark, and Azure Databricks-to streamline data workflows and improve productivity across the organization.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Weehawken, NJ is $130k - $140k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain internal data platform components and services.
- Develop reusable libraries, APIs, and tooling to support data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand their data needs and provide scalable platform solutions.
- Optimize Spark jobs and Databricks workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines and monitoring for platform components.
- Contribute to platform architecture and advocate for best practices in software engineering and data processing.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on backend or platform development.
- Proficiency in Java and Scala, with solid understanding of functional programming principles.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Azure Databricks in production environments.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems and data processing frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Azure, including services like Azure Data Lake, Azure DevOps, and Azure Functions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, infrastructure-as-code, and observability practices.
- Experience building internal developer platforms or self-service tools.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in cloud environments.
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
