Description:
Job Title: Environmental Test Technician
Location : Kent, WA
Responsibilities:
- Mentor junior technicians, providing guidance on accurate test methods and vibration control installation techniques.
- Perform hands-on environmental stress screening (thermal, vibration, pressure) on flight hardware in compliance with company procedures.
- Support the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment, including vibration tables, thermal chambers, pressure systems, and data acquisition tools such as pressure transducers (PTs), thermocouples (TCs), mass flow meters, and more.
- Coordinate daily test activities with engineers and management to meet operational schedules.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of machines, equipment, and work areas, adhering to 5S standards and maintenance protocols.
- Safely operate fast-paced testing systems while managing multiple test projects concurrently.
- Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation as outlined in test plans and standards.
- Proactively identify, communicate, and address cost, schedule, and technical risks to ensure successful project execution.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of environmental test experience with expertise in vibration, shock, or specification performance.
- High school diploma or GED, alongside 5-10 years of relevant experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities, including prioritization, scheduling, and delivering concise status reports.
- Ability to work independently in ambiguous situations, earn trust, maintain professional relationships, and foster inclusion.
- Solid knowledge of manufacturing and testing processes and procedures.
- Proficiency in data acquisition systems, data analysis, and data processing.
- Familiarity with drawings, shop orders, and detailed work instructions.
- Experience with electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic test equipment.
- Competence with software systems, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical capability to climb ladders and stairs, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs for limited durations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate or technical degree in a relevant field.
- Experience designing and fabricating test equipment, transitioning from engineering development to manufacturing implementation.
- Background in manufacturing execution systems, non-conformance systems, ticket request systems, and order scheduling systems.
- Proven ability to use and maintain calibrated equipment, as well as familiarity with GSE fittings.
- Experience applying and maintaining various instrumentation and control components (e.g., pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves).
- Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematics and reports.
- Familiarity with platforms like National Instruments, Dewesoft, Arduino, LabVIEW, or Test Stand.
