System Development Engineer
Export Control: This position requires that the candidate selected ==== in order to comply with U.S. government imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.
This Systems Development Engineer role focuses on supporting essential shared services and specific design and manufacturing functional domains such as Printed Circuit Board and Application Specific Integrated Circuit design. These functions require managed software services, lab environments, and infrastructure for their software and data, all in support of advanced hardware research and development.
You will design environments and manage both their physical and cloud infrastructure, which includes operating systems administration across Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Windows, used by critical design functions. The position requires hands-on management of server deployments, system maintenance, and infrastructure improvements while ensuring consistent uptime for engineering teams.
Working directly with stakeholders, you'll gather requirements, plan improvements, and implement changes through formal change control processes. Success in this role demands strict adherence to change management procedures to maintain system stability, including proper documentation, stakeholder approval, and scheduled maintenance windows. You'll balance urgent system needs with controlled changes while maintaining both cloud and physical environments supporting development operations.
Key Job Responsibilities
Server Administration Customizing, deploying, and administering Linux and/or Windows physical and virtual servers in hybrid environments.
Cloud Engineering Designing, deploying, and maintaining services and their environments on one or more major cloud service providers.
Network Administration Deploying and managing networking resources in support of both cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
Service Operations Ensuring required service levels are maintained via service and infrastructure instrumentation, monitoring, and reporting. Ensure support, change, and disaster recovery processes are established and followed.
Solution Design Working with internal partners and engineering peers on requirements and designing respective solutions in a disciplined and collaborative approach.
Continuous Improvement Evaluating current services and their implementation in cooperation with partners and peers to make improvements.
Automation and Documentation Creating and maintaining automation for routine workflows and authoring high-quality documentation for all stages of a service s life cycle.
A Day in the Life
You will be part of a team managing the administration, maintenance, and development of services and environments for various design and manufacturing functions (e.g., Integrated Circuits, Mechanical Parts, Printed Circuit Board, Machining) and related enterprise tools such as ServiceNow. The ideal candidate is innovative, has strong problem-solving skills, and takes pride in service quality. You should be comfortable working cross-functionally with internal partners, approach tasks with automation in mind, and reserve manual execution only where automation is not possible.
