Job Title: Head of Operations Engineering - Permanent
Location: Morgantown, WV
Duration: Permanent
Summary
The Head of Operations Engineering will lead engineering operations at an aseptic beverage manufacturing facility. This role is key to ensuring operational efficiency, driving process improvements, and fostering cross-functional collaboration.
The candidate will manage plant renovations, improvement projects, facility expansions, and support daily operations to minimize
downtime and maximize productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, develop, and implement engineering systems, processes, and resource allocation strategies.- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational goals.- Lead process and facility improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and boost productivity.- Oversee CapEx, training, and consulting budgets.- Manage engineering design standards, equipment specifications, and drawing controls.- Administer CMMS (Upkeep) for tracking maintenance, breakdowns, and contractor activities.- Liaise with vendors on industry innovations and oversee new equipment contracts.- Collaborate with Production and Technical Integration to align schedules.- Optimize team resources and oversee cross-training and skill development.
- Support EH&S protocols including LOTO, start-up, and shutdown procedures.- Coordinate large shutdowns with maintenance and production teams.- Ensure cost-effective manufacturing through process assessments and improvements.- Implement and recommend new technologies to enhance operations.- Enforce engineering standards, safety protocols, and compliance policies.- Adhere to SQF and food safety requirements.- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Direct and delegate daily operations of the Engineering department. Recruit, interview, and develop
engineering personnel. Assign tasks based on expertise and workload capacity.
Education- Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical) Required- MBA
Experience & Skills-
Minimum 10 years of engineering experience in manufacturing.-
5 7 years in managing capital projects, budgets, and engineering/maintenance timelines.-
Experience in FDA/PMO design, GMP, and low acid aseptic manufacturing preferred.- Strong ability to adapt to shifting production schedules.-
Proficiency in Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, MES, ERP/CRM systems.-
Ability to read and create Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.-
Experience in process mapping, efficiency optimization, and cost control.
Physical Requirements- Prolonged sitting and computer work.-
Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally.-
Ability to work with equipment containing electromagnetic components
