Description
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design, implementation, support, security compliance, and disaster recovery of our customers enterprise virtualization, server (physical and virtual), virtual desktops, storage (SAN) infrastructure, and cloud endpoint management systems. Additionally, this role encompasses managing enterprise email messaging, automated patching, Microsoft SaaS products, and cloud security solutions. The Senior Systems Engineer assigns and oversees the daily work activities of the team in conjunction with the AVP, Enterprise Services.
Duties include:
1. Designs, manages, secures, and supports our client's virtual, server, storage, and cloud endpoint infrastructure.
2. Oversees the deployment and management of Microsoft Defender, Intune, and other cloud endpoint management tools, ensuring optimal security and operational efficiency.
3. Designs, manages, secures, automates, and supports VMware virtualized datacenters.
4. Manages and supports Microsoft SaaS products, including Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and OneDrive, ensuring integration and functionality across the enterprise.
5. Assesses performance, reliability, and integrity of our client's infrastructure, providing short-term and long-term planning recommendations.
6. Maintains comprehensive documentation of systems infrastructure specifications, including diagrams, reports, and security compliance records.
7. Enhances security and compliance through vulnerability management, automated patching, and baseline configurations of virtual and cloud infrastructure.
8. Leads technical troubleshooting, identifying systematic errors, and providing strategic solutions to enhance system availability.
9. Guides enterprise infrastructure planning, capacity monitoring, and system performance optimization.
10. Acts as a subject matter expert and technical leader for major infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations and endpoint security improvements.
11. Supports and optimizes email messaging systems, including compliance, security policies, and automation for Exchange Online.
12. Provides mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring cross-training and knowledge-sharing for core infrastructure technologies.
13. Responsible for disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including cloud-based resiliency solutions.
14. Evaluates and implements automation strategies for cloud security, endpoint management, and SaaS integration.
15. Addresses security vulnerabilities and audit findings related to virtual, server, and cloud infrastructure in collaboration with the Information Security team.
16. Represents the team as a technical advisor in strategic discussions, ensuring alignment of technology initiatives with business objectives.
17. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.
