Job Title: Network Engineer 3-6 Month Contract
Location: [Remote besides the two weeks of travel required for site implementations/testing)
Contract Duration: 6 Months

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Cisco Certified Network Engineer for a 6-month contract role focused on firewall implementation, network infrastructure support, and systems testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Cisco technologies, and a strong background in network security, troubleshooting, and project-based deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and implement Cisco-based network solutions (switches, routers, firewalls).
- Lead or support firewall deployment and migration projects (Cisco ASA, Firepower, or other NGFWs).
- Conduct comprehensive network testing, validation, and troubleshooting for new and existing infrastructure.
- Work closely with security teams to implement and enforce network access control policies.
- Document network changes, configurations, and testing results as part of the change control process.
- Monitor network performance and proactively resolve any issues impacting availability or performance.
- Assist with the creation of standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Cisco Certification: CCNA (minimum); CCNP or equivalent preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in enterprise networking.
- Proven experience with firewall configuration and testing, ideally including Cisco ASA, Firepower, or Palo Alto.
- Solid understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP) and Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, STP).
- Familiarity with tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar for packet capture and performance monitoring.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks in a fast-paced project environment.
- Will need to be able to pass a background check.
- CISCO Certification
- Implementation for Firewall devices in a regulated field.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with VPN technologies and remote access configurations.
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripts for Cisco devices).
Work Environment:
- Hybrid or fully remote options may be available depending on location.
- Work may include occasional after-hours support during cutovers or critical implementations.
