QA Consultant

Resource 1 is in need of a QA Consultant to support the development, testing, and launch of interactive Power BI dashboards and data-driven benchmarking products. This role involves hands-on functional testing, SQL-based data validation, and automation script development to ensure the accuracy, functionality, and reliability of the platform. The ideal candidate will have experience with both manual and automated testing, and a strong ability to collaborate within a cross-functional, Agile environment.

Responsibilities:

• Partner with the Product Manager to define and implement QA processes for Power BI dashboards.
• Develop and document test cases based on user stories and acceptance criteria.
• Execute functional, regression, and data validation testing across dashboards.
• Compare Power BI extract data with backend exports (Excel-based comparisons) to ensure data accuracy.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for automation, balancing manual and automated testing approaches.
• Collaborate with the Learning & Development (L&D) QA team to leverage best practices and tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright).
• Build, maintain, and enhance automation test scripts using Cypress and Playwright.

Types of Testing:

• Functional dashboard testing (filters, interactions, navigation).
• Data validation to ensure accuracy of insights delivered via Power BI.
• Regression testing for newly rolled-out features.
• Light UI testing for navigation within iframe-hosted client portals.

Tools & Environment:

• Jira for managing user stories and acceptance criteria (test cases are not yet formalized).
• Excel for data validation and test case documentation.
• Preferred automation tools: Cypress and Playwright (Selenium experience is acceptable).

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of QA experience, ideally within data visualization, dashboards, or Power BI environments.
• Strong knowledge of functional testing, regression testing, and using SQL for data validation.
• Familiarity with automation tools like Cypress or Playwright (preferred but flexible).
• Ability to design and execute test frameworks and processes from scratch preferred, but not required.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers and developers.
