COLUMBIA Construction Support Project Engineering Team has openings for highly motivated engineers who will work in a fast-paced environment to provide manufacturing support for SSBN 827 and 828 Forward and Aft End Modules. These modules house Ships Command and Control, Torpedo Room, Missile Compartment, Engine Room, Electric Plant, Power Generation and Propulsion Systems, including the shafting complex with steering and diving components. In this role, engineers will be expected to provide comprehensive oversight of construction activities and will interface with cognizant Design and Engineering personnel, Ship's Management, Operations Management, Program Office, Detail and Production Planning, Materials Teams and Lead Trades to support construction of the COLUMBIA Class.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Project Engineers are strategically positioned to be the first call by operations when assistance is needed and will work with cross functional teams to establish and drive the best course of action, ensuring that engineering direction is provided in a manner that supports continuous production.
This position is for full time work at the Quonset Point, Rhode Island Facility

- Provide engineering oversight to emergent shipyard issues that arise during construction
- Ensuring change notices that support construction activities are being prioritized and worked
- Attend all production meetings for a given project, provide status of holdups
- Interface with technical authority points of contact and provide oversight for translation of drawings into work orders and instructions
Provide surveillance of manufacturing, inspection, and testing of material at Quonset Point - Drive completion of actions supporting construction, ensure readiness for major move evolutions, component land and key events, including coordination and execution of multidisciplinary engineering evaluations to support construction needs

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering
- 5+ years of Engineering experience in a professional setting
Preferred:
- Prior design yard, deck plate or construction experience
- Prior overhaul, repair or testing experience
- Knowledge of the shipyard organizational structure and processes
- Familiarity with Electronic Desktop (7G, Work Orders, ELCADD, PCM etc.)
- Familiarity with Team Center (CR/CN experience)
- Active secret clearance
- Prior US Navy experience
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment to meet organizational goals
- Ability to work in production areas, at heights and on board submarine modules
- Candidate must be highly motivated with good problem solving skills
