Summary:

Information and Technology Services (ITS) is looking for an Assistant Director of Finance Systems to join the Enterprise Application System (EAS) within ITS.

We support U-M faculty, researchers, staff, and students in their use of technology to teach, learn, research, and work, and be leaders in their fields. We are dedicated to creating cohesive digital experiences and promoting university wide innovations.

You will manage the delivery of Financial Applications and other applications in the Information Technology and Services organization within the University of Michigan. You will oversee the strategy, customer relationships, resourcing, staff development, and budget. You will direct the management team in the following area: setting team performance, strategy, direction and goals; coaching and counseling staff to accomplish goals, and overall responsibility of the Finance application area. This is a member of the EAS leadership team reporting to the Executive Director of Enterprise Application Services.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Assistant Director for Financial IT systems including Supply Chain Management (Procurement/Accounts Payable/Inventory Management), Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Billing, Asset Management, Space Management and Financial Reporting, etc. and provide leadership and direction to managers to develop a cohesive strategy.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the suite of Finance applications. Current technologies include PeopleSoft/Oracle FSCM, and integrations with Jaggaer, Oracle EPM, GHX, and Emburse Enterprise.
  • Serve as the Manager for the Supply Chain area, with primary focus on Procurement, Accounts Payable and Inventory Management. Provide direct supervision and support to managers and Supply Chain business systems analysts.
  • Set expectations for and foster constructive collaboration between team members at all levels.
  • Work with customer groups across the University and our affiliates to establish future solutions, collaborate and work with all ITS teams to help achieve ITS and the university's goals.
  • Provide leadership representation for the Financial application IT area in many capacities, including the governance and prioritization committees and other campus and central office teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience.
  • 10 years relevant work experience in information technology or financial systems management that may include: system design, implementation strategies, process improvement, project management, production support, and systems development methodology.
  • 5 years' experience in management of individual contributors and other managers including responsibility for strategic planning, goal setting, resource planning, employee development, performance management and team building.
  • Understanding of issues involved with software and application development, architecture, and methodology.
