Tableau Desktop BI Engineer

Job Title: Business intelligence Engineer Location: USA- [REMOTE] Type: [Contract]

Responsibilities

· Perform the role of Tableau Cloud site administrator by helping maintain and solidify deployment, governance, and security frameworks that enable Tableau Desktop users in the organization to publish, share, manage, and connect to data sources and workbooks in a secure and efficient way.

· Serve as a mentor to Tableau Desktop “ad hoc” developer community, communicate and advocate best practices, and help identify and troubleshoot usability and performance issues.

· Act as Tableau data manager, creating and publishing data sources to Tableau Cloud, monitoring usage of published data sources and workbooks, the success of extract refresh tasks, and user activity.

· Develop key metrics, uncover vital insights, and deliver critical analysis that will lead to data-informed decisions and guide business strategy.

· Work closely with senior leadership, department heads, and teammates to use data to drive the success of the organization.

· Assist with Alteryx Platform Administration, helping manage Alteryx environment stability and performance as well as content security, SDLC, and governance.

· User Management: Managing user access, permissions, and roles on all BI systems and Servers, ensuring proper authentication and authorization.

· Develop SQL code for reporting, data structure optimization, and data prep/cleaning/transformation.

· Design security architecture by customizing the access levels and creating various user groups by assigning row and column-level security at the application, folder, and user levels.

· Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of BI systems using maintenance tools and monitoring tools and managing statuses (start/stop services).

Requirements

Minimum Skills Required:

· Minimum 5+ years of experience.

· Experience as a Tableau Desktop “ad hoc” developer mentor and advocate for best practices.

· Expertise in Tableau Cloud site administration, deployment, governance, and security frameworks.

· Proficiency in Tableau data management and publishing data sources to Tableau Cloud.

· Ability to develop key metrics, provide business insights, and influence business strategy.

· Experience with Alteryx Platform Administration and content security, SDLC, and governance.

· Strong SQL skills for reporting, data optimization, and data preparation.

· Experience designing security architecture and managing user access across BI systems.

· Proven track record in monitoring and maintaining BI systems for performance and security.
