Overview

The APM Engineer works as a member of the Application Performance team, and supports the Enterprise Architecture and Shared Services Technology division. As part of the Application Monitoring team, engineers will be working on supporting Tier 0 and Tier 1 Applications using Dynatrace, Zabbix, Cloud watch and Splunk monitoring tools. They will be working closely with the Application team and Middleware teams on the analysis, prediction and research for health checks, logs and alerts. Application Performance engineers will be interacting with both Windows and Linux platform servers and improving the monitoring tools with applied scripting knowledge and querying SQL databases.

What You ll Be Doing:

Support Tier 0 and Tier 1 applications using monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Zabbix, CloudWatch, and Splunk.

Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Zabbix, Dynatrace, and Foglight monitoring tools.

Perform daily operations including release management, health checks, log analysis, and alert reviews.

Define application-specific thresholds and configure alerts accordingly.

Tune and maintain system alerts, exploring performance solutions within available tools.

Create and manage Splunk dashboards for diverse application environments.

Support incident calls, perform root cause analysis, and assist with production issue resolution.

Monitor AWS resources using CloudWatch and contribute to Kubernetes monitoring using Dynatrace.

Apply security patches to the monitoring infrastructure to ensure system integrity and compliance.

Develop custom monitoring solutions using shell scripting, PowerShell, and SQL, including scripts for health checks and log analysis.

Utilize Azure DevOps to manage work items, including creation and maintenance of PBIs (Product Backlog Items).

Participate in trend and prediction analysis, identifying patterns and anticipating potential system issues.

Plan and execute assigned activities, monitor alerts, and take action as needed to maintain system health.

Keep tickets updated, track work progress, and regularly communicate status to leadership.

Actively participate in cross-team collaborations, triage sessions, and meetings with IT teams, stakeholders, and leadership to identify, recommend, and implement solutions.

Ensure timely completion of service requests within defined SLAs and maintain clear communication with internal customers.

Document and automate repetitive manual processes to improve operational efficiency.

Collaborate with application, middleware, infrastructure, and project teams on system integration and performance enhancements.

What You ll Need to Have:

At least 6 years of experience as a Performance Monitoring Engineer.

Expertise in Zabbix, Dynatrace, Splunk, and Foglight

Experience with Cloud Watch and AWS tools

Strong experience with shell scripting and PowerShell.

Familiarity with DB concepts, Microservices, and cloud monitoring.

Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.

Experience with backups, restores and recovery models.

Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a positive, solutions-oriented attitude.

Experience with Azure DevOps and managing PBI lifecycles.

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
