Job Details

Job Summary:

Plan the utilization of production facilities and personnel to improve the efficiency of the operations, assist production areas by designing assembly fixtures and/or aids for productivity increases, and improve processes or procedures to maximize output. Monitor assembly functions to ensure worker safety, environmental compliance, and productivity.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, document, and maintain labor standards for all departments.
  • Analyze production requirements to plan facility layout and proper workflow.
  • Directly responsible for direct labor routings for all parts produced.
  • Establish work measurement programs and make observations to develop work standards.
  • Identify areas of overlap in duties and responsibilities.
  • Analyze past work performance to determine areas of improvement needed.
  • Provide justification for new processes, equipment, and plant and office layout.
  • Institute improvements as needed in work distribution, process flow, economy of worker motions and layout of work areas.
  • May prepare recommendations for reorganization of units and job duties to increase efficiency and eliminate excess processing steps and labor costs.
  • Work with design engineering department on new product introduction to maximize workspace and reduce labor requirements.
  • Analyze utilization of manpower and machines in units and develop work simplification programs in areas such as work distribution, work count, process flow, economy of worker motions, and layout of unit.
  • Continually monitor assembly functions to ensure worker safety and environmental compliance.

  • Utilize Lean manufacturing principles when implementing improvements.
  • Design of tooling, lifting devices, fixtures, etc.
  • Work with R&D or design groups to go over design review process in new product development.

Travel:
  • Limited as needed

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending or stooping
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facility and access all machinery
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs

Education:
  • BS in Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering required

Experience:
  • 3-7 years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, Industrial Engineering or Continual Improvement

Skills:
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Lean and Six Sigma tools
  • Project Management skills
  • Data Analytics / Minitab
  • SolidWorks/CAD
  • Excellent communication skills
