Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Application Development for our client, a leading higher education organization. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and transform a diverse portfolio of internal projects and products, driving innovation and excellence across the organization. Location: Orange County, CA (Onsite 3 days a week)

Compensation: This full-time role is expected to pay a base salary of around $200-275k annually based on skills and experience. The compensation plan includes a bonus, very strong benefits plan, and relocation assistance if needed.

What You Will Do:


  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 30 onshore and offshore developers, driving performance and growth.
  • Oversee a large portfolio of projects and products, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and stakeholder needs.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to address technical debt, outdated processes, and poor collaboration within the first 30 days.
  • Implement and enhance Agile methodologies across the enterprise to improve project lifecycle speed and efficiency.
  • Provide strategic direction for rearchitecting outdated applications, ensuring a smooth transition to modern technologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by establishing and tracking relevant metrics.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts and project status to executives and other stakeholders.

What Gets You The Job:


  • Proven leadership experience in managing a large portfolio of application development projects and teams.
  • Strong background in change management and process improvement, with a focus on Agile methodologies.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of architecture and technology trends, particularly within a Microsoft environment (on-premises and Azure).
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices and tools.
  • Solid experience with Salesforce and systems integration.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical information to executive audiences.
  • Experience in the higher education industry is highly desirable.
