Job Title: Desktop Support Technician

Location: Rochester, NY

Overview:

IRG Clients is seeking highly qualified and dependable Desktop Support Technicians to provide professional technical assistance and user support. Candidates must be local to Monroe County or willing to work onsite without travel reimbursement. This role requires the ability to drive to various Monroe County locations using personal vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first and second-level desktop support for County personnel, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and support end-user workstations, laptops, mobile devices, and printers.
  • Perform system imaging, software installations, updates, and patch management according to established IT standards (e.g., ITIL).
  • Maintain documentation of incidents, service requests, hardware inventory, and user support history.
  • Assist in onboarding/offboarding processes, including account creation, workstation setup, and equipment retrieval.
  • Support remote users through remote access tools, VPN, and telephony systems.
  • Coordinate with network engineers, project managers, and other IT professionals for escalated issues and cross-functional projects.
  • Ensure compliance with County IT security policies and procedures.
  • Travel to Monroe County sites using personal transportation (mileage not reimbursed).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in desktop or technical support roles.
  • Strong proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, basic networking, printers, and common productivity tools.
  • Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy) and remote desktop tools.
  • Knowledge of IT service methodologies such as SDLC, ITIL, or PMP standards.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Background checks, fingerprinting, and drug testing may be required prior to placement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices.
  • Experience in public sector or government environments.
