Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Multiple Data Center Technician to join our growing team. This role requires a proactive, hard-working individual with a strong foundation in IT and data center infrastructure. You will be responsible for physical hardware maintenance, network troubleshooting, asset management, and mentoring junior technicians. The ideal candidate is coachable, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform physical hardware swaps for both Fabric and Backbone equipment.
Replace optical transceivers, diagnose circuit issues, and perform line card and Top of Rack (ToR) replacements.
Handle RMAs and work with hardware vendors for part replacements.
Review hardware logs and isolate root causes of failures.
Conduct remote link troubleshooting using diagnostic tools and CLI.
Follow and enforce ESD and contamination prevention protocols.
Network Support
Assist in troubleshooting Layer 1 3 network issues.
Understand and apply networking protocols such as BGP, VRRP, STP, and LACP.
Provide support for structured cabling, fiber optic connections, and patch panel maintenance.
Operational Excellence
Accurately manage assets including tagging, inventory, and decommissioning of hardware.
Manage tickets and tasks using internal tools and ticketing systems.
Document and follow established network and operational procedures.
Adhere to safety, environmental, and operational policies and best practices in a data center environment.
Collaboration & Mentorship
Foster strong communication and partnerships with cross-functional teams within the data center.
Mentor and coach L1 technicians, providing guidance and knowledge transfer as needed.
Participate in on-call rotations and respond to incidents promptly.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2+ years of experience working in a data center environment.
Minimum 4+ years of IT-related experience.
Solid understanding of physical layer infrastructure, including fiber optics, contamination controls, and cleaning procedures.
Familiarity with IP-based networking and concepts aligned with A+/Network+ certifications.
Working knowledge of the OSI model and network troubleshooting.
Comfortable using text-based CLI (e.g., Linux shell, network devices).
Understanding of network protocols like BGP, VRRP, STP, and LACP.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, CCNA, etc.)
Familiarity with structured cabling standards and labeling best practices.
Experience with DCIM tools and infrastructure monitoring platforms.
Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills.
