Reporting Lead

Our client is looking for a Reporting Lead to consult with them on approaches, best practices, and technology solutions to build a world-class reporting function. The reporting needs are primarily in the Financials space (GL, AP, AR) and the main system of record is Workday Financials, although there will be secondary sources. Workday Report Writer and Workday Prism are the existing tools implemented.

Key requirements for the candidate:

  • Ideally, they should have experience with Workday Financials. However, client's vision for this role extends beyond just the Workday platform they may expand into other reporting and analytics tools in the future.
  • Client is not looking for someone who simply builds reports based on requests. Strong communication skills are essential. This person needs to be able to sit with business partners, understand the underlying need behind a request, and collaborate to design thoughtful, effective solutions.
  • While passion can be an overused term, it s appropriate here client wants someone who is genuinely passionate about reporting. That includes an interest in data visualization and creating interactive, dynamic solutions. While some reports may still be delivered via Excel or PDF, our goal is to evolve toward a world-class reporting function with executive dashboards and data control centers.
    • Traditional formats like Excel and PDF can be limiting; we re looking for someone who brings creativity and imagination to how data is presented.
    • Curiosity is key this person should be interested in exploring both internal and external tools and resources to improve how we visualize and deliver insights.
  • A critical skill is the ability to wireframe or visually represent conversations in real time whether in person or virtually. This capability will help us align more quickly on user needs and design better solutions from the outset.
  • This person must also be able to communicate these needs to the development team and lead that process.
