Job Details

Join the team shaping the future of imaging! We are looking for a highly skilled Image Database and Capture Engineer to lead the development of a centralized image database and capture infrastructure to support validation of next-generation camera modules. This role combines hands-on image acquisition using specialized camera hardware with backend data infrastructure design to ensure the image data is well-organized, tagged, and readily accessible for analysis across teams.

You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, and data engineering, owning both the pipeline for image capture in the lab and the tools to upload, store, and manage image data at scale within the ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of an image data infrastructure that supports automated upload, storage, tagging, and indexing of image data collected during camera validation.
  • Build and maintain camera image capture workflows, including scripting, control, and calibration of camera modules in bench and lab environments.
  • Collaborate with camera validation engineers to define standardized data schemas (e.g., module ID, scene type, capture condition, lighting setup, test campaign) for consistent tagging.
  • Design and implement backend pipelines to integrate with the internal systems (e.g., Hive, FBLearner, Scuba) for scalable data storage and querying.
  • Provide tooling and APIs for engineers to retrieve image datasets filtered by use case, condition, or hardware configuration.
  • Validate and debug image capture systems to ensure repeatability and reliability across modules and setups.
  • Support long-term image data lifecycle management, including archival, deduplication, versioning, and traceability.
  • Ensure compliance with the data governance, privacy, and retention policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Imaging Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in camera hardware development, image capture workflows, or hardware-software integration.
  • Solid understanding of camera systems, image sensors, optics, and ISP pipelines.
  • Proficient in Python and tools for image capture and device control (e.g., OpenCV, PyCapture, vendor SDKs).
  • Experience in database systems, data engineering, or pipeline development (e.g., SQL, Hive, Spark, Airflow).
  • Familiarity with managing large datasets, including image storage formats, data, and compression.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with camera validation teams or test automation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the internal tools and infrastructure (e.g., Scuba, FBLearner, Manifold, etc.).
  • Strong debugging and scripting experience across platforms (Windows, Linux).
  • Understanding of test chart setups, lighting environments, and lab equipment control.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally with hardware and software teams.
Benefits:
  • 401(k).
  • Dental Insurance.
  • Health insurance.
  • Vision insurance.
  • We are an equal-opportunity employer and value diversity, equality, inclusion, and respect for people.
  • The salary will be determined based on several factors, including, but not limited to, location, relevant education, qualifications, experience, technical skills, and business needs.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Participate in OP monthly team meetings and participate in team-building efforts.
  • Contribute to OP technical discussions, peer reviews, etc.
  • Contribute content and collaborate via the OP-Wiki/Knowledge Base.
  • Provide status reports to OP Account Management as requested.
