Job Summary:
We are seeking skilled AML Investigators to support a global investment bank with in-depth level 2 and level 3 case investigations. Investigators will also be responsible for preparing SARs.
  • Perform intermediate to complex analysis of customer behaviors or transaction sets alerted as potentially suspicious and detected by various financial crimes units (e.g. transaction monitoring, Enhanced Due Diligence, negative news, fraud).
  • Perform complex analysis of Transaction Monitoring Alerts, In-depth Case Investigations, and draft Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
  • Compose clear recommendations to client stakeholders with supporting documentation that demonstrates sound judgement and understanding of the client's regulatory obligations, customer risk profiles, and observations with the highest degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Identifying and communicating trends, risks, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Experience & Knowledge:
  • 3+ years of Anti-Money Laundering experience in the financial services industry
  • Experience conducting investigations across numerous referral channels (e.g., fraud escalations, negative news, transaction monitoring)
  • 2+ years of Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) writing/preparation experience
  • Strong understanding of the applicable laws, regulations, and industry-specific guidance related to Anti-Money Laundering Programs including: Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) scenarios, Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) practices, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/European Banking Authority (EBA) requirements or comparable, Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols, and OFAC screening procedures
  • Strong understanding of the financial markets and banking, including broker-dealer product-based knowledge, and the ability to conduct independent research
  • Experience with banking concepts, securities, customer segmentation, and financial product knowledge and a working knowledge of expected/anticipated activity for each
  • Experience working and/or advanced understanding of transaction monitoring, negative news, sanctions screening, KYC, CDD, and EDD processes.
  • Familiarity with various AML monitoring systems and commercial research databases
  • Possess understanding of complex customer and account structures within retail, commercial, and specialized banking clients
  • Analytical digestion of large sets of data, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills necessary to decipher high risk attributes (transactional, geographical, product, customer type, etc.) for financial customers
  • Thoughtful application and identification of trends that highlight exonerating or aggravating risk factors of an entity under investigation, and the ability to consolidate those insights into an articulate summary of information
  • Highly effective communication, both verbal and written, to provide a concise report supporting judgment and recommendation based on complex financial scenarios and risk factors for bank officers and regulators

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00/hr.
