About the Client
A large federal government organization is leading one of the most ambitious cloud transformation programs in Canada. This department delivers secure, modern, and reliable IT services across government, enabling federal organizations to provide digital programs that serve Canadians.
As part of the Government of Canada's Cloud Strategy 2024, all federal departments and agencies are centralizing their cloud services. To support this direction, the client is building an in-house compliance-as-code solution that monitors cloud security guardrails and reports compliance status across environments.
This is a contract.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Junior Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience in Google Cloud Platform and AWS. The successful candidate will work closely with the team lead and senior engineers, supporting development of automated guardrail monitoring solutions and ensuring compliance with federal cloud security standards.

This individual will work directly with the team lead and a senior engineer (IT-2) on the Google Cloud Platform team. Two consultants are already supporting this director on SA&A work, and the team has an established relationship with TEKsystems.
Why the Role is Open
The client requires additional support to reduce the workload on the team lead while continuing to advance their compliance-as-code initiative. The previous consultant transitioned into a permanent position elsewhere, creating the opening.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $400.00 - $400.00/hr.

This is a fully remote position.

- 2+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, with a strong focus on cloud engineering within Google Cloud Platform and AWS environments.
- 1+ years designing, deploying, and managing applications on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform), including services such as Compute Engine, App Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Functions.
- 1+ years of scripting experience with Python.
- Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance (mandatory for onboarding).

- Support Google Cloud Platform infrastructure builds and configurations.
- Contribute to the in-house solution reporting on compliance.
- Collaborate with senior resources to gain exposure to enterprise-scale IT security and cloud engineering practices.
