Job Description

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

To lead the planning and execution of the work efforts for assigned department to maintain the quality and integrity of products at the lowest possible cost.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • With input from the Department Supervisor, gives direction to designated work teams with responsibility for maintaining production schedules, quality of work, and planning and assigning duties.
  • Assists in the direction of efforts in assigned departments, including supervision of staff and associated personnel actions.
  • Ensures department work areas are safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant through training, implementation of EHS policies, and continuous improvement.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of training matrices of personnel and associated documentation.
  • Interfaces with supporting departments as required.
  • Ensures adequate resources are in place for employees to perform daily operations, including materials, tools, and training.
  • Completes installation of large wire connectors, different-sized multi-pin connectors, cable assemblies, ESD material handling, and installation of fiber optic cables.


OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Using processes established by engineering, ensures consistency of operation and quality; offers suggestions for improvement of processes.
  • Assists with problem-solving, corrective action, and root-cause analysis.
  • Solves problems using established policies and procedures.
  • Identifies opportunities to solve problems & improve performance.
  • Interviews and selects applicants to meet headcount needs determined by the director of manufacturing operations.
  • Recommends termination of employees for policy violations or performance-related issues with the approval of the director of manufacturing operations and HR.
  • Recognizes issues, problems, or opportunities & determines whether action is appropriate.
  • Demonstrates honesty; keeps commitments; behaves in a consistent manner.
  • Treats people fairly with dignity & respect.
  • Coaches subordinates in accomplishing specific tasks or solving problems.
  • Identifies opportunities to meet goals & objectives.


Experience and Skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary.
  • Ability to adhere to workplace rules.
  • Understanding of modern manufacturing methods.
  • Ability to understand and interpret customer specifications.
  • Understands the importance of effective conflict resolution.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics.
  • Basic computer skills required.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education/Licensure/Credentials: 2 year college/university education, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in manufacturing, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Required: IPC J-STD, IPC-610 and IPC/WHMA-620 certifications.


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Shop Floor environment/shared workbench or workstation.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small/large tools).
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate constant noise (machine motors, large fans).
  • Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • The employee frequently is required to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance.
