Job Description:



  • Data Scientist to join client's thriving eCommerce team.

  • As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in leveraging data-driven insights to optimize our online platform, enhance the customer experience for a renowned line of hemp-derived CBD products as well as improve overall business growth for the company considering product, finance, marketing, and eCommerce.

Responsibilities:


Data Analysis and Modeling:



  • Analyze extensive datasets encompassing customer interactions, sales trends, and product performance to extract valuable insights.

  • Utilize statistical methods and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets related to customer behavior, sales, inventory, and marketing.

  • Develop predictive models to forecast sales, identify trends, and anticipate customer preferences, thereby optimizing inventory management and product recommendations.


Insight Generation:



  • Identify key metrics and performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, website features, and product offerings.

  • Extract actionable insights from data to support strategic business initiatives, such as pricing optimization, personalized marketing campaigns, and product assortment planning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions that drive value.


Experimentation and A/B Testing:



  • Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate the impact of website optimizations, promotional activities, and customer engagement strategies, iterating based on data-driven/empirical findings.


Data Visualization and Reporting:



  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and product teams to provide regular updates and insights derived from data analysis, guiding decision-making processes.

  • Develop visually compelling dashboards and reports using tools like Looker, Tableau or Power BI to communicate findings and performance metrics to stakeholders, enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels of the organization.


Continuous Improvement:



  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and e-commerce, applying new methodologies to enhance our analytical capabilities and drive continuous improvement and maintain a competitive edge in the eCommerce landscape.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related quantitative field.

  • Proven experience (6-9 years) as a Data Scientist or similar role in an eCommerce or retail environment.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, with hands-on experience in data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.

  • Building out data lake cloud infrastructure within solutions like AWS, Snowflake, Databricks, Cloudera, Google Cloud, Azure, etc.

  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and machine learning algorithms, with the ability to apply them effectively to real-world problems.

  • Proficient with implementing a data lake.

  • Experience with data analytics, visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI, Domo, etc.) and proficiency in crafting compelling visualizations to convey insights.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively present complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Prior experience working with eCommerce platforms, familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and knowledge of digital marketing concepts are desirable.
