Title: Workday Advanced Compensation Functional SME

Location: Ohio, USA - Looking for only local candidates

Job Type: Contract

The Workday Advanced Compensation Functional SME (Subject Matter Expert) is responsible for leading the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday's Advanced Compensation module. This role ensures that compensation strategies are effectively translated into system capabilities, supporting annual cycles, merit planning, bonus programs, and equity administration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead functional workshops to gather compensation requirements and translate them into Workday configurations.
  • Design and configure Advanced Compensation plans including merit, bonus, and stock programs.
  • Collaborate with HR, Total Rewards, and IT teams to align system functionality with business policies.
  • Support compensation cycle execution, including eligibility rules, budgeting, and approval workflows.
  • Conduct testing, validation, and troubleshooting during implementation and annual events.
  • Provide guidance on reporting, analytics, and dashboard creation for compensation insights.
  • Document functional specifications, configuration guides, and user training materials.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Deep functional expertise in Workday Advanced Compensation.
  • Experience in compensation planning, policy interpretation, and system configuration.
  • Strong understanding of Workday business processes, security, and integration touchpoints.
  • Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Workday certification in Advanced Compensation is preferred but not mandatory.
