Job Details

Position Title: Technical Project Manager (Medical Device)

Location: Onsite in San Diego, CA - at least 4 days a week

Length of Contract: 6 months to start - likely extension, possible conversion. Openness to K to hire helps

Start Date: 7/28/25

Interview Process: 2 rounds - first with hiring manager for 30-45 minutes on Teams, second will be 2-3 hours with other leads, etc.

Scope:

Our client needs a technical PM to support their Sustaining Engineering team. They have several projects running parallel, and bandwidth is stretched very thin as a result client needs another seasoned PM to help assist. Main duties of the role will entail working with cross functional teams, managing a large-scale program where several teams and parts of the project interface together, and/or communicating with suppliers to find alternate materials or components if they have a line down, etc. Needs to have experience with the full end-to-end product development lifecycle.

This person needs to come from a regulated engineering background - Experience wise more of a Technical PM having worked as an Engineer with hands-on product or product system development, then moved up into project management.

Required Qualifications:

-Bachelor s degree in mechanical, biomedical, electrical, or related technical field.

-Minimum 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 recent years formal project management experience, preferably in a global, matrixed company.

-Proven experience working in medical device industry driving medium to large-sized projects from initiation through closure.

-Experience driving medical device design control, design changes and transfer to manufacturing in a sustaining engineering environment.

-Experience qualifying plastic components Injection Molds working with Supplier.

-In-depth understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Lean/Six Sigma, Scrum) and processes

-Proven experience using project management tools and software (i.e. Microsoft Project, Office 365, One Plan etc)

-Strong interpersonal and communication skills
