Description
We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our team in Bedford, Ohio. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting both the engineering department's daily operations and collaborating closely with manufacturing and sales to ensure efficient processes and high-quality product designs. This position requires a hands-on approach to improving production methods, managing design files, and fostering innovation.
Responsibilities:
Create detailed prints and designs tailored to customer specifications using SolidWorks.
Maintain and manage engineering change files and design review documentation.
Develop cost estimates based on customer-provided designs and specifications.
Collaborate with shop floor personnel to refine and enhance existing designs.
Establish and update Bills of Materials to ensure accurate production planning.
Partner with the Production Manager to optimize manufacturing processes and workflows.
Create and maintain process routings to improve production efficiency.
Implement cost reduction strategies targeting material, labor, scrap, and overhead expenses.
Utilize manufacturing tools and methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Deliver excellent customer service through attentive, responsive interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and experience with drafting and 3D modeling.
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and tools.
Advanced skills in Excel and other Office applications.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
