7115 - Accessibility Web Engineer
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accessibility Web Engineer to provide design, development, testing, and support of accessible web and mobile applications. The role requires deep expertise in accessibility standards, front-end development, and testing methodologies to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 and Section 508 requirements.
The Accessibility Web Engineer will collaborate with UX Designers, Business Analysts, Developers, Solution Architects, Testers, Project Managers, and Accessibility Program subject matter experts to ensure delivery of fully accessible digital solutions.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise in accessibility methodologies and best practices for accessible web, mobile, and web applications.
- Design, develop, and test for accessibility compliance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and applicable federal/state accessibility standards.
- Conduct accessibility analysis, apply universal design principles, and document design options.
- Perform automated and manual accessibility testing, including the use of assistive technologies (screen readers, text-to-speech tools, color contrast analyzers, and development tools).
- Review and validate front-end code for accessibility best practices.
- Define accessibility test procedures, including severity and priority methodology for defects.
- Support implementation of accessibility solutions and enhancements.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance system documentation.
- Provide knowledge transfer, training, and best practices to internal teams through documentation, collaborative sessions, and code reviews.
- Deliver regular status updates and participate in project meetings.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of digital accessibility experience in designing for web accessibility standards and requirements, including Section 508 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria.
- 10 years of digital accessibility experience performing automated and manual testing using screen readers, text-to-speech tools, development tools, and color contrast validation tools.
- 10 years of web application experience, including manual code inspection to validate accessible design practices.
- 10 years of experience in web, mobile, and web application design, front-end development, and test methodologies.
- Strong experience designing for patterns, design systems, user flows, wireframes, and prototyping.
Desired Skills
- Ability to organize complex/detailed technical procedures and define technical requirements.
- Experience applying universal design principles to responsive and mobile solutions.
- Proven ability to recommend and implement accessibility solutions within existing technical environments.
- Familiarity with defining and executing accessibility test methodologies, including the use of automated tools and manual approaches.
- Experience providing knowledge transfer, documentation, and cross-training to teams on accessibility best practices.
Engagement Details
- Start Date: August 1, 2025 (or upon contract execution)
- End Date: June 30, 2026
