Job Title: Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator

Location: Annapolis, Maryland - Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Duration: 5 Year Contact (07/01/2025 06/30/2030)

Interview Process: 1-hour onsite interview

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Eastern Time).

Flexibility to extend hours for project deadlines, support, and emergencies.

Two (2) to four (4) weeks of initial training.

3 days onsite + 2 days remote weekly; may be adjusted based on performance or project needs.

Position Summary

Client is seeking a Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator to manage and optimize its Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The Administrator will ensure system stability, security, and high performance across enterprise applications, with a strong focus on automation, troubleshooting, and best security practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain RHEL servers across development, test, and production environments.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and optimize system efficiency.
  • Automate system administration tasks using Ansible, Bash, or Python.
  • Configure and maintain Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and related tools.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure vulnerability mitigation and compliance.
  • Support storage, backup, disaster recovery solutions, and application deployment best practices.
  • Maintain detailed system documentation and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Set up Network File Servers (NFS) and manage mount points.
  • Configure and manage cron jobs for both systems and applications.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and resolve incidents promptly.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor s or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Valid Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Red Hat Linux administration experience.
  • 10+ years of administering IBM pSeries (AIX) Unix systems.
  • 15+ years of overall experience in the IT field.

Hands-on experience with:

  • Oracle WebLogic Servers
  • Oracle Databases
  • Progress 4GL/OpenEdge
  • Apache Web Servers
  • VMware vSphere-hosted RHEL Servers
  • Rubrik backup systems
  • PeopleSoft, Mobius, Elastic Search, Oracle OBI, CVS
  • Expertise in Red Hat performance tuning, load balancing, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Experience supporting 24/7 highly available systems.
  • Application development support and Red Hat support experience.
  • Familiarity with electronic imaging support.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Effective communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to troubleshoot at OS, database, and application layers.
  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat system configuration, optimization, and security.
