Job Details

Job Title: WiFi Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Schedule: Hybrid/Onsite
Rate: $60/hour W2
 

Job Summary:
The WiFi Engineer will be responsible for the planning, engineering, and testing of wireless systems infrastructure, including Wi-Fi and IoT devices. The role involves test data analysis, defect validation, and troubleshooting of Wi-Fi enabled gateways and consumer electronics, supporting product testing and performance validation.


Responsibilities:
• Test and validate Wi-Fi 802.11ac standards, Zigbee, Bluetooth, and Thread protocols in lab and customer environments
• Develop and execute test plans for Wi-Fi performance, interoperability, and new feature validation
• Parse raw Wi-Fi traffic data, analyze test results, and communicate findings to management
• Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Gateway devices, conduct defect validation, and perform sanity and regression testing
• Perform system performance benchmarking and deep-dive testing for Mesh and new Wi-Fi features


Core Skills:
• Wi-Fi 802.11ac standards and specifications
• Wi-Fi performance testing and validation (interoperability, range, rate vs. orientation)
• Wi-Fi traffic analysis and troubleshooting (e.g., raw traffic parsing)
• Test automation development for wireless devices
• Experience with RF chambers, Octoscope, Ixia Traffic Generators (iGen, Ixia Chariot)
• IoT wireless protocols (Zigbee, Bluetooth, Thread)
• Defect validation and triage of Wi-Fi gateways
• Knowledge of wireless testing methodologies and standards
• Ability to create and troubleshoot test environments and labs
• Experience with mesh networking testing and characterization
• Familiarity with CE, CPE interoperability testing
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to lead projects and present data to executive management


Experience Requirements:
• 6+ years of relevant professional experience in wireless / Wi-Fi systems testing and engineering


Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
