Job Details

Job Title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS & Azure)

Duration: 12 months

Location: Austin, TX (100% Onsite) (Need Locals only)

Primary Skills:

The client has issued a request for a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure. This Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring best practices in security, compliance, and cost optimization across cloud environments.
  • Collaborating with development, security and operations teams to support CI/CD pipeline and cloud applications.
  • To set up and manage virtual networks, VPNs, security groups, IAM roles/policies, load balances, and storage accounts.
  • Participate in cloud migration initiatives, hybrid-cloud setups, and disaster recovery planning.

Minimum Candidate Characteristics:

  • 3 years of experience with AWS, Azure, and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab)
  • Experienced in scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation
  • Experience with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Zenoss, and Splunk
  • Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS/EKS)

Exceptional Candidate Characteristics:

  • Experience with a TX State Agency
  • Certifications (Or equivalent)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure, Administrator/Architect Associate
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and on premises integration
  • Knowledge of cloud cost management (Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer)
  • Experience with DevSecOps and cloud compliance frameworks (NIST, HIPAA, SOC 2)

Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to be key resources on a technical services team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and Azure.
  • Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using native and third-party tools.
  • Ensure best practices in security, compliance, and cost optimization across both cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native applications.
  • Set up and manage virtual networks, VPNs, security groups, IAM roles/policies, load balancers, and storage accounts.
  • Troubleshoot cloud service issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Participate in cloud migration initiatives, hybrid-cloud setups, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Maintain cloud documentation, operational runbooks, and diagrams.

Minimum (Required) Skills:

  • 3 years of Hands-on experience with both AWS and Azure cloud platforms.
  • 3 years of Strong understanding of cloud networking, security controls, and identity/access management in both environments.
  • 3 years of Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
  • 3 years of Proficient in scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) and automation.
  • 3 years of Familiar with monitoring/logging tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Zenoss, and Splunk.
  • 3 years of Hands-on experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes, AKS/EKS).

Preferred (Optional):

  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Administrator/Architect Associate, or equivalent.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises integration.
  • Knowledge of cloud cost management tools (e.g., Azure Cost Management, AWS Cost Explorer).
