Jira Architect/Admin Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Jira Architect/Administrator to join our team in supporting enterprise-scale projects. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic configuration, administration, and optimization of Jira and related Atlassian tools. This includes customizing workflows, automating processes, and ensuring Agile best practices are followed across large projects. You will collaborate with business leaders and cross-functional teams to align Jira with organizational needs, streamline project and portfolio management processes, and drive tool usage across the enterprise. This is a key role for an individual who thrives in complex environments and has experience leading and mentoring teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and maintain Jira, ensuring it meets business and technical requirements for large-scale enterprise projects.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, business units, and cross-functional teams to define and implement best practices for project management, agile methodologies, and portfolio management in Jira.
  • Lead the configuration and customization of Jira, Confluence, and related Atlassian tools to align with organizational goals and user needs.
  • Provide expert-level user support, troubleshooting, and issue resolution across the Jira and Atlassian tool suite.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for new and existing users, ensuring high adoption rates and understanding of tools and processes.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to Jira configuration, workflows, processes, and integration with other tools.
  • Monitor tool usage and performance, identifying opportunities for process improvements and optimizing the user experience.
  • Design and implement custom workflows, fields, screens, and automation to optimize business processes and improve operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain a Playbook demonstrating Jira's capabilities, workflows, and best practices for enterprise users.
  • Manage Jira environment to best practice standards including security groups, permissions, schema configurations, backups, and data hygiene.
  • Create dashboards, generate reports, and provide performance insights for tool usage, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Jira administrators and support personnel, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure seamless integration between Jira and other enterprise tools, including DevOps, cloud technologies, and other system solutions.
  • Collaborate with agile delivery teams to ensure the alignment of Jira workflows and configurations with agile delivery methods and project objectives.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of Jira configurations and work to improve its usability and functionality for large-scale teams.
  • Lead the Tool Advisory Board (TAB)

Qualifications: Education & Certification:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Preferred:
  • ACP-120 Jira Administration for Cloud
  • SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) certification (or must be obtained within the first 90 days).
  • Certified SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager.
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certifications.
  • Certified Lean Portfolio Management (LPM).
  • Experience & Knowledge:
    • Required:
    • 8+ years of IT or business experience, with a focus on system architecture, administration, and large-scale project management.
    • 5+ years of experience in portfolio and project management, ideally with Atlassian tools.
    • Proven experience with Atlassian tool configuration (Jira, Confluence, and related plugins).
    • Demonstrated experience in leading Jira administration and configuration across complex enterprise systems.
    • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring and guiding junior team members.
    • Expertise in creating and optimizing workflows, fields, screens, and automation within Jira.
    • Experience in IT service management (ITSM) concepts and processes.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Preferred:
  • Deep understanding of Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Lean) and their application in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Experience with Jira integrations and plugin development.
  • Experience with cloud-based tools and technologies, DevOps tools, and Microsoft Tool Suite in agile team execution.
  • Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the ability to tackle complex technical issues in a collaborative environment.
    • High level of proficiency with Jira administration and advanced configuration techniques.
    • Ability to lead and manage large projects while balancing multiple priorities and timelines.
    • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage both administrative and project-based tasks effectively.
    • Experience working with remote and collocated teams across different time zones.
