Job Details

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support root-cause analysis for scrap, rework, nonconformance, and customer issues.
  • Drive corrective & preventive actions using 8D, fishbone, FMEA, and other quality tools.
  • Monitor machining processes using SPC, Cp/Cpk, data analysis, and risk assessments.
  • Analyze and present quality metrics including FPY, defects, PPM, and capability reports.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineers and Operations to improve process capability.
  • Train operators on quality standards, inspection methods, and defect prevention.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, cross-functional reviews, and issue resolution.
  • Work in both shop-floor (PPE required) and office settings.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of engineering experience (internships count).
  • Hands-on quality engineering experience in manufacturing or machining environments.
  • Proven experience with root-cause analysis tools (8D, fishbone, FMEA, 5-Why).
  • Strong knowledge of SPC, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience implementing Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering or related technical field
    • Master s degree + 3 years of internships is also acceptable.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time in Pontiac, IL.
  • Comfortable working in a union manufacturing environment with required PPE.
  • Willingness to work overtime or occasional weekends/off-shift assignments.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with machining processes (CNC, metal cutting, machine shop environments).
  • Knowledge of quality standards and risk management tools (FMEA, control plans).
  • Continuous improvement mindset with CI or Lean/Six Sigma experience.
  • Ability to influence teams and resolve conflicts constructively.
