Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to join their growing team. This role is for a seasoned professional with robust experience and proficiency in managing Windows and Linux servers within a multi-cloud environment. You will play a vital role in engineering solutions and maintaining compute and storage infrastructures, delivering efficiency through automation, and ensuring scalability, flexibility, and compliance.
Day-to-day, you will perform system administration tasks, manage identity lifecycles, implement highly available network architectures, and ensure accurate documentation. You will collaborate effectively with DevSecOps teams, participate in in-house training programs to foster knowledge, and identify cost-saving improvements. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills, committed to continuous learning, and passionate about maintaining secure, efficient, and scalable IT infrastructures.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform system administration tasks for Windows Server 2022 and RHEL 8.

  • Conduct regular platform upgrades and vulnerability management.

  • Troubleshoot system issues and automate tasks with native scripting languages.

  • Manage system performance and application inventory and administration.

  • Ensure compliance to regulatory baselines.

  • Develop and execute deployments using infrastructure-as-code.

  • Utilize DevOps pipelines to operate cloud-native services and deployments.

  • Administer the lifecycle of SSL certificates and associated infrastructure and domains.

  • Manage and test data backups and disaster recovery policies.

  • Manage human and system identity lifecycles, including onboarding, offboarding, and role management.

  • Implement, update, and regulate group policy and identities in Active Directory and Azure EntraID.

  • Implement highly available network architectures.

  • Manage network security and network routing in a hybrid-cloud environment.

  • Manage IP based access rules, network address sourcing, and CIDR whitelists/blacklists.

  • Communicate effectively and promptly with DevSecOps teams to implement appropriate cloud-native solutions.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of the system and network infrastructure.

  • Participate in in-house training programs to foster and spread knowledge and awareness to project teams.

  • Promote and empower decision-making within project teams.

  • Manage incident reports.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving improvements and operational efficiencies.


Required Experience/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field and 4+ years of experience in managing server environments. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Proficiency in both Windows Server and Linux Server operating systems, role services, and application management.

  • Proficiency with Active Directory forest and domain architecture and management.

  • Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity and server hardening concepts.

  • Ability to implement regulatory requirements and security policies with templates, group policy, scripts, and/or custom solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and implement network connections, firewall and port rules, routing tables, and/or DNS record and resolution management.

  • Demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure tasks.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently isolate and resolve problems.

  • Self-starter that can work independently while possessing the communication skills to work effectively with software development teams and customers.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to self-manage work tasks using M365 based tools.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

  • Ability to obtain public trust clearance.


Nice-to-Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field.

  • Cloud or security related certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, and Certified Information System Security Professional.

  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Intune, Azure Policy, or Azure EntraID.

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementation and enforcement of regulatory compliance and governance controls.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in administration of Azure Entra services including connected applications, policy enforcement, conditional access, and key management.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing network routes, VPNs, DNS, and NSGs.

  • Demonstrated ability to automate resource provisioning using cloud native tools.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field (or equivalent experience).
