We are seeking a Senior Telecommunication Technician for a year-to-year assignment supporting our energy client's operations in Cayce, SC and surrounding local areas. This onsite role requires a local candidate who is available for daily local travel, a daytime Monday–Friday schedule, and on-call availability for after-hours work as needed. The position includes overtime opportunities, particularly during upgrades, cutovers, or storm/disaster support. Mileage reimbursement is provided, and a personal vehicle suitable for local travel is required.
Responsibilities

Maintain accurate records of installations, configurations, repairs, and maintenance activities.

Ensure all work complies with telecommunications regulations and standards.

Provide technical support and guidance to users, often involving customer service during field visits.

Install and wire routers/switches, coordinating for configuration and troubleshooting.
-
Install and provision transport equipment and Ethernet services supporting the MPLS network.

Perform testing, deployment, and documentation supporting system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities.

Respond to system and service outages, and support storm/disaster recovery efforts.

Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms.

Effectively identify and utilize proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.

Prioritize safety, environmental consciousness, and attention to detail.
Work Conditions:
-
Exposure to cold, heat, loud noise, and energized wires up to 25%.
-
Outdoor work up to 25%; Office work up to 25%.
-
Travel required 51–75%, including possible overnight stays, holidays, and weekends based on project needs.
Qualifications
Must-Have Technical Skills:
-
SolarWinds – NPM and NCM
-
Experience with Nokia and Ciena transport equipment
-
Commissioning and troubleshooting DWDM systems
Nice-to-Have Skills:
-
Electrical/Electronic background and SCADA knowledge
-
Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS, and other LAN/WAN data circuits
-
Skilled in termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types including fiber
-
Knowledge of fiber terminations, data circuits, and 48V/135Vdc power plants
-
Experience with DC plant systems, LAN and wireless testing, fiber optic test equipment
-
Familiarity with cable identification, terminating cables, and Channel Banks
Soft Skills:

Strong communication skills and ability to work independently

Self-starter with a focus on safe work habits and behaviors

Ability to keep work sites clean and organized
Education & Certifications:
-
High School diploma or G.E.D. required

Associate degree and 3 years of related work experience OR
-
Military experience with 5 years of related work experience may be accepted
Other Requirements:

Must have own personal vehicle suitable for local travel

Will be handling PPI, company-sensitive, and credit-sensitive information
-
Will require Unescorted Nuclear Access
