Virtualization Performance Engineer
Location: Merrimack, NH & Westlake, TX

Role Overview

We are looking for Virtualization Performance Engineers to join a new team within the SRE organization. This role focuses on performance engineering and testing on virtualization platforms and supports multiple business unit applications migrating from VMware to Oracle OLVM.

Responsibilities

* Conduct performance testing and engineering for virtualization platforms.
* Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
* Execute benchmark testing and monitor performance using appropriate tools.
* Work with application owners and engineering teams to analyze performance results and implement fixes.

Breakdown:

* 60% Performance Testing requirements gathering, test planning, executing test cases.
* 40% Performance Engineering analyzing results, troubleshooting issues, collaborating on solutions.

Must-Have Skills

* Strong background in Performance Engineering (bottleneck analysis, benchmarking, monitoring).
* Experience with hypervisors: Oracle OLVM (preferred), KVM, VMware vSphere, or Hyper-V.
* Familiarity with performance monitoring and testing tools:

* Monitoring:Grafana, Splunk, Perfmon, Linux CLI tools (top, iostat, etc.).
* **Testing:JMeter (or similar), in-house/custom tools experience is acceptable.
* Networking troubleshooting:TCP dumps, Wireshark, etc.
* Scripting/Programming:Python for automation and custom performance scripts.

Nice-to-Have

* Experience with benchmarking tools like FIO, D-Bench.
* Knowledge of workload simulation (e.g., financial FIX protocol or non-UI-based apps).

Candidates with performance engineering + virtualization hypervisor testing experience are highly preferred. OLVM experience is not mandatory if you have KVM/VMware/Hyper-V plus strong performance engineering skills. Python experience is a strong plus.
