Job Description

Hybrid: Reporting to a specific location where work needs to be performed / collaboration should happen (regardless this location is within a hub) and without regard to where a candidate lives (some employees may end up hybrid who live more than 50 miles away but where business needs dictate them to be onsite at a specific location three days per week).

  • This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Mountain View Technical Center or Austin innovation Center or GM Georgia IT Innovation Center or GM Global Technical Center three times per week, at minimum.
  • This job is eligible for relocation benefit


The Role

We are seeking a driven and talented Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team. This role provides an opportunity to develop and support cutting-edge solutions providing services across the GM Envolve, GM Energy, and Global Leads business lines.

We are looking for someone will bring strong technical expertise, initiative, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a fast-paced environment. This role requires a focus on quality, performance, and innovation, with opportunities to grow technical and professional skills.

What You'll Do
  • Design and develop scalable web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies and cloud infrastructure
  • Design and develop robust system infrastructure and database solutions.
  • Write clean, efficient, unit-tested and well-documented code for both client-side and server-side components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope and deliver high-quality software solutions
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance
  • Implement and maintain APIs, pub/Sub events
  • Ensure application security, data protection, and code quality standards are met
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Lead small-to-medium scale projects, ensuring alignment with business and engineering goals

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer
  • Proficiency in front-end technologies: JavaScript, Angular, React (nice to have and a good additional qualification)
  • Strong knowledge of back-end languages Node.js, Python, Java
  • Experience working with multi-tier production software systems utilizing HTTP APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and backend datastores (PostgreSQL and/or DynamoDB, Redis)
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g. Kubernetes)
  • xperience with streaming/queue platforms like Kafka/MQ
  • Familiarity with Observability tools like Heap and/or Datadog
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture, event driven architecture
  • Understanding of RESTful API design and implementation
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the tech stack, debug code and tests
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment


Compensation: The compensation information is a good faith estimate only. It is based on what a successful applicant might be paid in accordance with applicable state laws. The compensation may not be representative for positions located outside of New York, Colorado, California, or Washington.
  • The salary range for this role: is $134,000 to 205,000. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
  • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
