Job Details

Payrate: $60.00 - $70.00/hr.

Summary:
This position will have responsibility for defining and validating high voltage electrical components and systems (50V to over 1000V) and supporting powertrain integration for electrification programs (including diesel-electric, battery-electric, and hybrid machines), from concept through production. This position will be accountable for translating system requirements into appropriate high voltage electrical system designs while ensuring alignment with key safety standards. It will also have accountability for electrical system auditing, troubleshooting, validation, and issue resolution to ensure alignment to safety and regulatory standards and reliability expectations

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing HV systems for proper protection and arc flash mitigation, using tools like ETAP and Pspice
  • Creating electric powertrain system and sub-system diagrams
  • Ensuring proper overload protection device selection and coordination
  • Defining, integrating, and validating high voltage components in machine powertrain applications
  • Driving requirements definition in support of electrical safety standards (IEEE, NFPA, IEC, ISO, UN)
  • Assisting technical leads in conveying software requirements and component electronic information for HV diagnostics, events, and warnings to the various control teams
  • Virtual audits of HV powertrain systems for grounding, bonding, and cable selection / routing
  • Supporting machine commissioning by evaluating compliance with standards, documenting and resolving issues and verifying safe operating procedures
  • Development of HV system design guides, leveraging best practices and lessons from prior machine projects Sizing high voltage cables in powertrain applications
  • Troubleshooting and analysis of field data
  • Educating process partners on the hazards and best practices for working on high voltage electrical systems

Must have skills:
  • ETAP Experience, Arc Flash experience, HV System design experience - see Matt Paustian's JRF for an Electrical Specialist.
  • There is direct overlap.

Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is: $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
