- From a portfolio standpoint, what are you looking for?
- First glance: Stellar visual design, easy navigation, clean and simple to understand home page. 2-4 diverse case studies that help assess range and depth.
- Case Study Structure & Clarity: A clear design process with clear visual hierarchy. The portfolio needs to present a clear journey, not just a collection of pretty screens.
- Compelling Storytelling with Data: Candidate's individual contribution within the team, presented as a concise story with a clear problem, the challenges they came across and the solutions they explored. Bonus if they mention failures and pivots, why they happened, and what they learned (including "what l'd do differently") demonstrates reflection and growth. Qualitative or quantitative data shows the impact of their work.
- Iterative & Research-Driven process: Is there evidence of a user-centered, iterative design process, from initial rough sketches to polished prototypes. Does they case study highlight how a candidate solves problems?
- Technically-sound: The portfolio demonstrates a use of modern technology and coding in its presentation. Fully responsive and leveraging accessible technology.
- Collaboration Skills: Are there concrete examples of successful teamwork, particularly with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, etc.) Is this designers a team-player?
- Authentic "About Me": What is their personality? What are their values? How do they approach the world? This will give you an early read on culture fit. A unique, genuine portrayal of themselves helps us, hiring managers understand what makes them unique.
- Are you looking for somebody with a Fintech background? Yes, specifically in loan originations if possible and someone that has gone through technical migrations and replatforming in their career.
