Job Details

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

FME's ITS Enterprise Solutions organization has the charge to design, build, implement and sustain enterprise solutions (including ERP) and Supply Chain solutions based on the SAP technology platform.

The Director, ERP Basis & Development will work integrally with the ITS organization and external service providers as well as the FME IT infrastructure team to design, build, implement and sustain systems and solutions to support the FME businesses.

The Director will be part of the ITS Enterprise Solutions team but for the duration of the SAP ERP deployment, will be a member of the global ESPHORA project implementation team.

The Director will provide core SAP expertise for the development and maintenance of systems to support:
  • Basis Administration
  • System Landscape and Infrastructure Design
  • System Upgrade and Maintenance support
  • Solution Manager and System Change Management

Role Description
  • Work with IT peers and business counterparts to determine requirements for
  • Global system deployment and related business system support
  • Business continuity, System availability and performance improvements.
  • Design, implement, test and support all SAP systems required to realize the end-to-end SAP solution required to meet the business needs.
  • Develop, implement, document, and test backup, system recovery, and disaster recovery solutions and procedures for SAP systems.
  • Create and maintain production standard operation procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide technical leadership in resolution SAP related issues focusing on root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans
  • Overseeing SAP development initiatives and team members
  • Producing gap analysis to identify alternate solutions specific to SAP development and providing technical recommend.

The Director conducts all activities and makes decisions that are in accordance with Company policies & SOPs, FME Values, FDA & global regulatory guidelines (including cGMP/cGLP/cGoogle Cloud Platform), environmental guidelines, as appropriate, etc.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the global deployment of SAP within FME
  • Define and implement required policies and procedures and standards to set up and maintain a global SAP landscape
  • Support the implementation of SAP job-roles and GRC policies
  • Review and analyze solution enhancement requests to determine complexity and provide resource/cost estimates
  • Develop and manage project plans. Lead projects as required, as well as contribute as a team member to project teams
  • Provide input to long-term IT strategy necessary to achieve organizational objectives
  • Perform thorough analysis to identify all potential impacts for change requests
  • Train and transfer knowledge to other team members, users and stakeholders as required
  • Knowledge transfer to Production Support at conclusion on enhancement delivery

Client Management
  • Ensure customer expectations have been met through delivery and ongoing execution of services
  • Gather and analyze business requests to determine how best to create successful resolution for new requests and issues
  • Help consumers understand service offerings available from internal IT service providers and secure appropriate resources for projects, engaging with the business, and facilitating service delivery
  • Prepare business case for IT investments
  • Follow governance processes that facilitate business prioritization and align with IT
  • Facilitate technology initiatives which directly impact clients portfolio
  • Align IT services with current and future needs of the business and its customers while improving quality of services delivered

Ongoing Systems & Service Delivery and Process Improvement
  • Deploy global IT processes, develop and maintain organizational quality indicators, and monitor client satisfaction
  • Provide information to IT and Business leadership regarding best practices, industry trends and business opportunities, as well as, feedback on the overall performance of processes and tools
  • Understand key business controls and impacts of changes caused by functionality, technology changes and changing business needs
  • Provide support for global and regional systems and services
  • Work to ensure audit, SOX and other compliance requirements
  • Steward the development and implementation of process capabilities (process, tools and roles) & metrics
  • Identify and initiate process improvements (continuous improvement)
  • Monitor process compliance and performance metrics
  • Execute key operational process activities

Manage resources:
  • Contract FTEs
  • Other less experienced employees and team members of the SAP ITS Teams

SUPERVISION:

May be responsible for the direct supervision of various levels of Application Development staff.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in Technical, System Administration, IT Infrastructure Managements or Business field
  • MS or MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • 8-10 years of Enterprise SAP Basis Administration and SAP Development experience with multiple full life cycle implementations
  • Experience with ABAP and Portal development solutions is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience of various IT practices, including but not limited to, project management, operational service delivery, large project implementations
  • Demonstrated ability to work across organizational regional and global boundaries, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-divisional and cross-functional environment
  • Ability to work independently, effectively coordinating multiple priorities in a dynamic and changing environment and also in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Adept at understanding customer challenges, navigating from problem to resolution and communicating process and resolution effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to interact comfortably with all levels of management and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams
  • Strategic Application of Information Systems and business analysis
  • Experience in life sciences / pharmaceuticals industry preferred

Technical/Functional Competencies:
  • Extensive experience with system administration and development of SAP systems in several or all of the following areas:

Basis Administration:
  • Operating system (UNIX or Windows)
  • Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MaxDB etc)
  • Netweaver business suite components ECC 6.0, SCM7.0, BI 7.0, CRM, SRM, BPC, MDG, Enterprise Portals, HANA and Non SAP systems.

  • Landscape Design, Sizing, Installation and Integration
  • System Upgrades, Support Packs, Enhancement Packs and Disaster Recovery
