Pay Range: $90 - $95/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops Legacy Equipment/Process Modernization Strategy: Responsible for developing an equipment/process modernization strategy aligned with business requirements.
- Works with BU leadership (e.g., Integrators) to understand business requirements (demand vs. supply), backorders, future projections, etc.
- Analyzes OEE/OLE database records to analyze BD’s ability to achieve business requirements
- Builds a multi-year equipment/process modernization strategic plan, targeting short-term wins to address critical/urgent business requirements aligned with confirmed revenue growth opportunities, while also ensuring a longer-term strategy to improve overall BDX efficiency.
- Establishes a modernization budget by Business Unit (BU) ensuring appropriate capital is captured, socialized and prioritized as part of the Annual Strategic Review process.
- Executes Equipment/Process Modernization Strategy: Lead a team and actively participate in the execution of Equipment/Process Modernization Strategy.
- Works with ISC Senior Leadership to gain approval and prioritization of the equipment/process modernization strategy.
- Works with GIE PMO team to create business cases and work with the BU’s to prioritize and obtain financial support for projects (e.g., Establish project charter, resource requirements, etc. and craft CB2 where applicable)
- Liaises with plant leadership to organize internal and external resources required to execute OEE/OLE improvement plans, minimizing equipment and resource downtime. Collect and analyze technical monitoring and performance indicators (failure rates, causes of failures, etc.) from production, quality and maintenance teams. With the objective to propose product and process improvements (analysis of performance, malfunctions, etc.)
- Defines improvements and developments to be provided to production equipment
- Analyzes and improve working methods on equipment (maintenance, production)
- Validates technical choices (manufacturing methods for goods or products) and their industrial feasibility (production capacity, process reliability) by defining and supervising the performance of manufacturing tests and trials.
- Transmission of industrialization processes guidance to technical teams
- Identifies malfunctions (at the level of the processes themselves, or at the level of supply flows, etc.), identifies corrective actions to be implemented and deploy them.
- Participates in improving the working conditions of technicians (workstation layout, automation of arduous tasks, etc.).
- Standardizes and formalizes working methods.
- Manages a team of industrialization and methods SMEs / expertise points of reference dedicated to support Process Operations projects at BDX level
- Drives projects per plan, adhering to budget.
- Documents and trains on all improvements to ensure sustainability.
- Drives Standardization and Document/Leverage Successes: Documents improvements and leverages across BD.
- Creates a repository of best-in-class processes, technologies, etc. implemented to improve OEE/OLE on legacy equipment.
- Creates standards of operating practices to harmonize across BD.
- Ensures synergies across Business Units within BDX leveraging on best practices and system design standards that could be extended with benefits to other equipment applications.
- Generates Statement of Works (SOW) / User Requirement Specification (URS) where OEM’s / Vendor support is needed.
- Insists on robust design reviews with OEM’s / Vendors ensuring that solutions address the root cause in full and not just improve.
- Provides Targeted Engineering Upskilling Opportunities: Identifies areas of weakness and works with the GIE Learning Academy to offer training opportunities.
- Through modernization efforts, identifies upstream and downstream opportunities for upskilling the GIE organization.
- Works with the GIE Learning Academy to identify internal/external resources to provide development opportunities, leveraging multiple learning drivers:
- Virtual and/or In-class training
- Stretch assignments
- Job Rotation
- Mentorship
- Individual coaching
- Serves as a leader/teacher for areas of expertise.
- Provides point-of-contact training opportunities, departing knowledge while executing strategy.
- Engages team around the strategy. Communicate clear priorities and objectives.
- Builds a truly inclusive team organization which leverages the capabilities from all sites.
- Provides leadership which drives engagement, performance and results from every associate.
- Develops a global talent pool of engineers and future leaders for GIE and BD.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Skills-Equipment & Process Design.
- Global Modernization/Upgradation manufacturing process.
- Continuous improvement and innovation
- B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred). MBA or MS in Engineering is preferred.
- Broad-based business experience in high performance multi-national enterprise
- Over 15 years of Engineering, production, maintenance and management experience in Medical Device or other highly regulated industries.
- Proven leadership in product/process development projects and capital management.
- Experience preferred in operations and/or in advanced manufacturing engineering.
- Demonstrated experience leading/deploying advanced manufacturing/engineering initiatives and coaching at site and/or functional level.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement global strategies.
- Demonstrated track record of initiating, sponsoring and implementing change
- Excellent Interpersonal/communication skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in conducting and interpreting PFMEA, GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, SPC is essential.
- Experience in using Lean / 6σ tools essential.
- Black belt accreditation desirable.
- Travel percentage: Up to 50%
