Material Execution Engineer
The Role
We're looking for a Material Execution Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can work independently with minimal supervision. This role plays a key part in shaping how materials flow through our assembly plants by designing and implementing lean material strategies and automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce waste.
You'll work at the heart of our manufacturing engineering operations either in a centralized engineering center or directly within an assembly plant where your creativity and initiative will help drive innovation in material flow and vehicle assembly processes.

Material Execution Engineer
The Role
We're looking for a Material Execution Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and can work independently with minimal supervision. This role plays a key part in shaping how materials flow through our assembly plants by designing and implementing lean material strategies and automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce waste.
You'll work at the heart of our manufacturing engineering operations either in a centralized engineering center or directly within an assembly plant where your creativity and initiative will help drive innovation in material flow and vehicle assembly processes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Material Execution Engineer, you will:
- Lead material execution for new vehicle programs from early planning (CSO) through steady-state production (post-SORP).
- Design and implement lean material strategies and automation solutions (e.g., ASRS, AMRs) across GM North American assembly plants.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, plant operations, and suppliers to ensure efficient material flow.
- Develop layouts for material and LMS (Lean Material Strategy) within general assembly areas and onsite logistics centers.
- Analyze data using DPP/DPPN and maintain PFEP (Plan for Every Part) documentation.
- Support launch teams with parts routing, system setups (STS/TIS), and station-level reviews to optimize material presentation.
- Coordinate procurement of LMS and automation equipment with GM purchasing and strategic suppliers.
- Track performance and savings using execution master documents and benefit trackers.
- Drive standardization and best practices across all assembly plants.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, or Supply Chain Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing or supply chain.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Teamcenter, and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide leadership updates, and manage timelines.
- Familiarity with material flow automation concepts and technologies.
Additional Information
- Travel and flexible work hours may be required during vehicle program launches.
