Job Title: 7109 -Accessibility Tester Section 508/WCAG Compliance
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Accessibility Tester to support accessibility compliance efforts across public-facing websites and enterprise applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating applications and systems to ensure they meet accessibility standards in accordance with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct manual and automated accessibility testing of websites and applications.
- Use tools such as JAWS, NVDA, Color Contrast Analyzer, WAVE, and browser plug-ins to evaluate accessibility compliance.
- Document issues and coordinate with developers and testers to track remediation efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to interpret technical documentation and functional specifications related to accessibility.
- Develop and document internal processes for accessible design, development, and testing.
- Stay current on Section 508 and WCAG standards and testing tools.
- Perform accessibility testing on mobile and tablet platforms using built-in assistive features.
- Manage licenses for accessibility tools (e.g., JAWS).
- Create accessibility testing reports and track exceptions or remediation efforts.
- Provide guidance and training on accessibility best practices to other team members.
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience performing accessibility testing using JAWS, NVDA, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.0/2.1 (Level AA).
- Ability to develop test cases and test scripts for accessibility validation.
- Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience using Azure DevOps or a similar test case and bug tracking platform.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and ARIA roles.
- Familiarity with SQL for backend validation.
- Previous experience mentoring or training staff on accessibility standards.
Work Location: Sacramento area.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM. Full-time (40 hours/week). No overtime without prior written approval.
Clearance & Screening Requirements:
- Live Scan background check and TB testing may be required prior to start.
- Adherence to accessibility, security, and confidentiality standards is mandatory.
