Description

SAIC has an immediate opening for a Software Systems Engineer to lead the development and implementation of software systems that meet customer requirements. The successful candidate will guide users in formulating system requirements, perform system requirements analysis, and develop system requirements specifications. They will also provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology, ensuring designs meet team and customer requirements throughout the software development life cycle.

Key Responsibilities :

Requirements:

o Guide users in formulating system requirements, advise alternative approaches and conduct feasibility studies

o Performs system requirements analysis to translate users' needs into technical systems, product definitions and functional/engineering requirements

o Develop system requirements specifications, concept of operations documents, systems architecture and system design documentation

Architecture:

o Generate alternative system concepts, conceptual and logical architectures, and design solutions

o Assist the team in defining strategic technology direction for solutions

Integration:

o Interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and associated problems, issues or conflicts

o Communicate with other program personnel, government leads and senior executives

o Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to the configurations between affected groups and individuals throughout the life cycle

o Coordinate and facilitate applications migration activities to migrate mission-facing applications into the cloud

Security:

o Work with architects and systems developers to identify and implement appropriate information security functionality, ensuring uniform application of government customer security policy and enterprise solutions

o Contribute to security planning, risk management framework (RMF) process, certification, and awareness activities for system operations

o Coordinate Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes to generate security requirements for applications/systems, working with ISSM and ISSE

Technical Leadership:

o Provide technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology, ensuring that designs meet team and customer requirements throughout the software development life cycle

o Ensure that system designs meet customer requirements and are successfully implemented throughout the design, implementation, integration, rest, and acceptance phases

Communication and Collaboration:

o Communicate effectively with government leads, senior executives, and other program personnel to ensure that technical considerations and issues are addressed

o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, system developers, and security experts, to ensure system designs meet customer requirements and are secure

Qualifications
  • Must currently hold a TS/SCI and Poly
  • Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in software systems engineering, with a focus on requirements engineering, architecture, integration, and security
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycles, including agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with government leads, senior executives, and other program personnel
  • Strong technical leadership skills, with the ability to guide and direct cross-functional teams

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with cloud-based systems, including migration and deployment
  • Certification in software systems engineering or related field, such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
