What You'll Do:
- Provides guidance and oversight of tier 2 support and maintenance of applications to meet daily operational needs. Acts as escalation point if needed.
- Configures, maintains, and upgrades applications to meet daily operational needs and supports strategic IT projects.
- Designs, implements, and maintains customizations of applications to meet evolving business needs including reports, dashboards, and workflows.
- Designs, implements, and maintains third-party software connections and applications to support various business needs.
- Acts as the lead during debugging system integration and functionality issues including engagement with vendor support for defect resolution.
- Develops, documents, implements, and provides recommendations for enhancements to policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure data integrity, change protocols, customization, usage, etc.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of application functionality, customization, and integration. Researches upcoming enhancements or upgrades to applications and recommends procedures for implementation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related degree and 8 years of relevant experience, or
- In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring
- Acts as a subject matter expert in enterprise applications, including (or similar to) WebFocus and Synapse/Databricks with Fabric, with a strong grasp of application security and the ability to make informed recommendations.
- Demonstrates proficiency in SQL Server administration, including performance tuning, backups, alerting, and security protocols.
- Applies strong critical and analytical thinking to influence technical direction and validate standards across teams.
- Collaborates effectively across IT disciplines, enhancing cross-functional alignment and operational efficiency.
- Navigates ambiguity with confidence, adapting to evolving business needs and leading initiatives with clarity.
- Employs strong technical writing skills to produce high-quality documentation for departmental and cross-team use.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in applications, policies, and procedures, and proactively enacts solutions.
- Leverages scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, T-SQL, Python) to streamline operations and reduce manual effort.
What We Prefer
- 6+ years of experience in Application Operations, ideally within lean IT environments.
- Hands-on experience with WebFocus (or other reporting tools), SQL Server, and cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
- Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as SOX, HIPAA, or NIST.
- Experience with vendor management or fractional support models.
- Professional certifications such as:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate
- AWS Certified Database - Specialty
- CompTIA Data+ or Security+
