Typical Day in the Role
Day to Day responsibilities:
ETL Development & Maintenance:
- Design, develop, and manage complex SSIS packages to automate ETL processes.
- Monitor daily/weekly ETL jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure timely data processing.
- Implement advanced data load strategies such as incremental load, change data capture (CDC), and error handling.

responsibilities:
- Data Extraction and Transformation:
- Extract large volumes of data from claims, enrollment, encounter, and payment systems.
- Clean, transform, and prepare raw data to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, ensuring seamless data flow into downstream systems.
- Claims and Encounter Analytics:
- Analyze encounter and claims data to identify operational inefficiencies and compliance gaps.
- Monitor provider performance by tracking key metrics such as utilization, reject rates, timeliness, and quality of care.
- Work with cross-functional teams to improve encounter submissions and reduce data rejections.
- Power BI Reporting & Visualization:
- Develop interactive Power BI dashboards that provide actionable insights for leadership and stakeholders.
- Create optimized data models and DAX queries to support self-service analytics and improve data visualization.
- Ensure reports align with business and regulatory requirements, ensuring data consistency and accuracy.
- Collaboration & Process Improvement:
- Partner with IT, business, and provider engagement teams to enhance data pipelines and reporting effectiveness.
- Identify gaps in care, submission quality, and operational processes through data analysis.
- Recommend and implement improvements to streamline ETL processes and reporting frameworks.
- Performance expectations: Ensure 100% successful execution of SSIS packages with minimal errors or delays. Meet SLAs for data extraction, transformation, and loading without impacting downstream processes. Maintain high data quality standards by ensuring encounter data meets state and federal compliance guidelines. Deliver accurate and timely reports/dashboards that align with business requirements. Provide actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
- Team meets twice a week, contractor will have additional meetings as needed

Candidate Requirements
- Required: Bachelor in math, statistics, information systems, computer science, or related field Preferred: Masters in math, statistics, information systems, computer science, or related field.
- Years of experience required: Minimum 5 years' overall relevant experience, must have SSIS or IICS and Advanced SQL experience and required hard skills listed in section below.
- Disqualifiers: if the resume does not have SSIS or Informatica IICS and advanced SQL I will not consider them
- Additional qualities to look for: Risk adjustment and healthcare knowledge are big plus. Experience with Python to enhance ETL functionality and automate repetitive tasks. Knowledge of scheduling tools (e.g., SQL Agent or Control-M) to manage ETL workflows effectively. Expertise in healthcare models such as claims, encounters, and payments. Hands on Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards (e.g, CMS, DHCS) and healthcare data formats (e.g, EDI 837/835).

- 1 Hands on ETL development experience using SSIS to build, optimize and maintain complex ETL pipelines.
- 2 Strong proficiency in SQL Server, Teradata, stored procedures, and query performance tuning to handle large data sets efficiently.
- 3 2+ years experience developing interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI with expertise in DAX and Power Query.
