Position Summary


The Software Engineering Leader guides a team of engineers to complete the design and development of software applications, following best practices in software development. This role combines technical expertise with leadership to drive innovation and ensure high-quality, secure, and compliant solutions. This role is involved across the full development lifecycle, including presentation, business logic, and data layers, and provides mentorship and technical direction to resolve complex challenges.




This position will be 2 days onsite. Candidates must be local to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metropolitan area. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship both now and in the future.




Compensation & Benefits



  • Salary Range: Target range is up to $150,000 with additional flexibility for individuals with a high level of management experience.

Key Responsibilities



  • Lead the design, development, and delivery of new features and enhancements across product lines.

  • Ensure all code includes unit and automated tests to validate functionality, scalability, and reliability.

  • Establish and refine development standards and best practices for high-performance, secure, and reusable solutions.

  • Promote scalable design patterns and reusability across the team.

  • Collaborate with third-party data vendors to support operational needs.

  • Drive innovation and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

  • Oversee development of internal user-facing UIs using RESTful APIs and modern frontend frameworks.

  • Identify and mitigate project risks; communicate progress to stakeholders and IT leadership.

  • Foster a positive team culture through coaching, mentoring, training, and hiring.

  • Manage cross-team technical dependencies and provide hands-on implementation support when needed.

  • Contribute to automation frameworks for testing, including unit, integration, end-to-end, performance, and load testing.




Leadership Duties



  • Directly supervises software engineering staff.

  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, and professional development of team members.




Qualifications


Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, MIS, or related field; or equivalent experience with a high school diploma/GED.

  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience.

  • 5+ years of full-stack software engineering experience.




Technical Skills:



  • Proficiency in one or more languages: C#, JavaScript, Golang, Python.

  • Experience with modern UI frameworks: ReactJS, Angular, Vue.

  • Strong background in database design: SQL, NoSQL, Snowflake.

  • Familiarity with messaging systems: RabbitMQ, Kafka.

  • Azure experience including Functions, microservices, and containerization.

  • Expertise in building distributed, scalable applications using REST and messaging technologies.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools: Harness (preferred), GitHub, Azure DevOps.

  • Experience implementing automated testing across various layers.

  • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices.

  • Familiarity with domain-driven design, software design patterns, and principles.

  • Self-motivated learner with a passion for new technologies and continuous improvement.
