Project Overview and Requirements Seeking a Project Manager to drive the integration of two new external 3PL warehouses with the SAP S4 HANA global system. This role requires extensive coordination across RO Genentech, the new 3PLs, and the global team, ensuring adherence to the global SAP template and governance. The ideal candidate should have about seven years of experience, preferably with SAP S4 projects, possess self-driving independence, and be ready to join immediately as the project has already commenced with requirements gathering.
Required Experience and Project Details Mandatory experience includes working on SAP S4 projects, such as implementation or enhancements, while GXP environment experience is desirable but not mandatory. The project involves SAP modules like EWM, Materials Management, and Quality Management, focusing mainly on 3PL integration, and prior experience in 3PL implementation would be very helpful. The project follows a traditional waterfall life cycle, but the development conducted by the global team uses a safe process, so the PM must understand safe terminologies and structure, though they will not be driving the project using that methodology.
Role Autonomy and Location The Project Manager will have full autonomy regarding project deliverables and is responsible for driving the project forward, working closely with a collaborative core team comprising business and IT members. This is an on-site position based at the SSF (South San Francisco) location, requiring the person to be in the office three days a week. Confirmed they are open to considering candidates who would relocate at their own expense to the Bay Area.
Candidate Qualifications and Time Zones clarified that experience with SAP ECC is acceptable if the candidate lacks seven years of SAP S4 HANA PM experience, with S4 experience being a differentiator. While a Master's degree was noted, a Bachelor's degree with substantial experience would also be considered. Although the deployment team is globally positioned, this is a US-based project, and the working hours on the West Coast are flexible, typically starting between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM for an eight-hour day to accommodate time zone differences for the global team.
Tools, Travel, and Interview Process The global team utilizes Jira for system deliverables, and the project team uses Smartsheets and Air Tables, although experience with MS Projects is expected to be sufficient for candidates to quickly adapt. Occasional domestic travel within the US to sites like Oceanside, Portland (Hillsboro), or SSF may be required for design sessions, but not on a monthly basis. The interview process consists of two virtual rounds: the first with Client for screening and functional review, and the second with the project team and a business stakeholder.
Project Timeline and Other Experience The project has two go-live targets: the first 3PL aiming for November of this year (or sooner), and the second targeting the end of the next year, making filling the role as soon as possible a priority. Client is open to candidates with GXP experience from other industries that follow similar procedures. This position does not require any AI or machine learning experience.
