Job Details

MTSI is seeking a Systems/Sustainment Engineer in support of a Missile Defense Agency (MDA) acquisition program office. This role focuses on ensuring systems continue to function effectively and reliably throughout its entire lifecycle such as supporting ongoing system developments and addressing maintenance issues, upgrades, and obsolescence. You will also support system operations, and test and evaluation for missile defense technologies as part of a dynamic Program Office in support of multiple DoD COCOMs and Service Components. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:
Monitor and coordinate hardware/software development activities and provide technical guidance on the implementation of requirements.
Manage and support the sustainment of deployed systems by analyzing obsolescence and recommending system enhancements to maintain operational effectiveness and readiness.
Analyze software and hardware baseline as a result of operational needs, technology obsolescence, and/or system enhancements to maintain operational effectiveness and readiness.
Support test events and provide engineering and validation assessments to ensure systems meet the intended purpose and have operational utility.
Provide on-site troubleshooting and conduct root cause analysis for system failures, and develop corrective and preventive actions to ensure proper functioning of hardware and software.
Installation of systems at deployed OCONUS locations, to include: system setup, ensuring proper configurations are applied, and performing system checkout to confirm system is healthy and meets operational requirements.
Support system design reviews (Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review), technical interchange meetings, and agile design events.
Assist in development and implementation of sustainment strategies including lifecycle planning, obsolescence management, and upgrade roadmaps.

Qualifications:
Motivated self-starter who is able to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment, often with minimal guidance and within rigid timelines.
Good analytic and critical thinking skills and the ability to apply them in a multi-tasking environment where more than one project may require his/her participation at any given time.
Outstanding communication skills in conveying complex technical issues and in providing comprehensive written, oral and/or digital products.
Proven track record of success in managing complex projects or tasks.
Experience with requirements definition.
Experience with configuration management, reliability engineering, and technical documentation.
5+ years' of experience in system engineering or sustainment roles (defense, aerospace, etc).

Qualifications Desired:
Knowledge and experience with Missile Defense systems and applications.
Familiarity with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
Knowledge and experience with RF technologies and hardware.
DoD 8140 (previously 8570) Qualification (i.e CompTIA Security+ Certification).

Education Requirements:
Bachelor degree in a related field of study.

Clearance Requirements:
Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Travel Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel (20%) CONUS and OCONUS.
