Staff Project Manager is responsible for executing all phases of site wide capital projects that enable the continuous improvement of our world class manufacturing platforms and supporting systems. You will be directly responsible for leading a variety of projects from concept to delivery and act as the technical lead accountable for scope development, schedule execution, budget adherence with a focus on construction management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Accountable individual for delivering site priority capital projects that span equipment upgrades, product brand conversions, and new line installation/commissioning under minimal supervision. This role will be the Construction Management SME / Lead for the Capital PMO group and will support MAKE engineering projects at times.
  • Establishes project timelines, objectives, priorities, and targets. Responsible for developing project budgets, acquiring bids, preparing funding requests and obtaining Capital Appropriation approval from senior leadership.
  • Lead multi-functional teams (internal and external to Engineering) and influence business decisions around optimal scope approaches. Supervise the activities of a multi-disciplined staff that may change in size and composition from project to project.
  • Responsible for providing technical interpretation and expertise to ensure adherence to FDA/Safety/Quality policies, good engineering practices, J&J standards, and customer specifications.
  • Provide machine design and layout input in project Design Reviews.
  • Communicate design requirements and timelines with E&PS to support new machine installs.
  • Coordinate machine installation efforts across multiple resources: Freight Forwarders, Riggers, Mechanical Contractors, Electrical Contractors, E&PS, vendor support, and internal & external project resources.
  • Lead daily extended team meetings to coordinate activities during installation, commissioning and validation.
  • Participate in project Core Team's as Mechanical and / or Installation Lead.
  • Travel to support machine FAT's as needed.
  • Collaborate with project team & Reliability to identify, set up, provide input to OP/OQ, and procure spare part seed stock.
  • Collaborate with Operations to align support equipment needed for new machines.
  • Submit purchase requisitions as needed.
  • Collaborate with Engineering & Operations to troubleshoot technical issues as they arise. Engage local suppliers as needed to provide necessary parts needed to resolve.
  • Document construction management best practices and provide coaching to grow capability across the organization.
  • Demonstrates a strong leadership style which reflects the standards and expectations outlined in the Johnson & Johnson Credo.

Qualifications
Education:
  • A minimum of a High School Diploma is required. A Bachelors Degree in life sciences, engineering, OR relevant field is preferred.

Experience and Skills:
Required:
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience is required.
  • Experience owning installation and commissioning activities for automated process equipment in a regulated medical device industry. This includes familiarity with FDA regulatory standards and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Experience planning installation activities including schedule development and resource planning.
  • Experience coordinating equipment deliveries with freight forwarders to successfully plan for and ship production equipment from around the world to minimize cost, reduce risk, provide temporary storage as needed, and plan delivery sequence to minimize on site equipment staging.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple installation contractors (Riggers, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) to efficiently install new machines within schedule.
  • Experience coordinating activities with vendor support through translation services.
  • Construction Safety: Experience Developing construction safety plans, understanding of J&J permit requirements, developing PPE maps, collaborating with EHS in preparation for Power-On / Safety Clearance, and enforcing J&J safety rules. Understanding of required safety systems and processes including: MOC Process, ISNET, HICAs, Contractor Safety Manual, WRAPS, and HECP. Experience monitoring and reinforcing safety compliance across all phases of projects.
  • Construction Quality: Experience ensuring machines installed per drawings in desired layout locations. Experience holding construction contractors accountable to meet J&J standards and scope as defined by contracts.
  • Experience collaborating with E&PS to ensure infrastructure requirements for manufacturing equipment are understood and delivered on time.
  • Able to effectively communicate: Experience leading multi-functional daily meetings to coordinate activities and share status vs. schedule for large, complex projects.
  • Experience providing direction to internal and external project team members and driving tactical execution to project milestones.
  • Familiar with Process Safety Management and Process Hazard Analysis for equipment installations and qualifications within PSM governed areas.
  • Familiar with calibration requirements for new machines.
  • Familiar with CMMS and PM Requirements for new machines.

  • Operations experience is a plus.
  • This position could have up to 10% travel both domestic and/or international
