The Hilton Madison Monona Terrace is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Engineering department and ensure our facilities and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. In this role, you will guide a talented team of engineers, implement preventative maintenance programs, and continually work toward improving engineering services for both guests and associates. This dynamic position also serves as a member of the Executive Committee, contributing directly to the strategic decisions that shape our hotel.

What will you be doing?
Direct and inspect daily engineering work to ensure productivity, quality standards, and deadlines are met.
Ensure successful completion of daily work schedules, payroll edits/reports, and necessary counseling or disciplinary actions.
Interact with guests, contractors, vendors, peers, and corporate executives as needed.
Assist department staff with troubleshooting, regular maintenance, and repairs.
Conduct regular inspections of public areas, back-of-house areas, guest rooms, and exterior spaces.
Maintain hotel quality assurance, safety, and training guidelines.
Manage departmental spending and payroll in line with budget guidelines.

What do you bring to the role?
3-4 years of prior engineering or building maintenance management experience in a similar environment. Prior supervisory experience required.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints/schematics, procedural manuals, budgets/financial statements, OSHA standards, MSDS, etc.
Ability to make rough estimates of required project materials.
Strong troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance skills across physical building components, FF&E, A/C and refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, plumbing, pneumatic and electronic systems, and fire/life safety equipment. Must be able to use and understand power tools.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to represent the company in a courteous, professional, and well-groomed manner.
Computer proficiency.
Bachelor's degree preferred; extensive experience considered.
Ability to perform basic math and read/write in English.
