Title: CDC Data Replication Platform Admin / Engineer

Location: Houston, TX Onsite 4 days a week

Contract / Full-Time

We are seeking a highly capable and adaptable Data Warehouse Platform Administrator/Engineer to manage and support our enterprise data warehouse infrastructure. This role focuses on platform administration, maintenance, monitoring, and automation across cloud and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with real-time Change Data Capture (CDC) tools, strong SQL and database skills, and familiarity with modern data engineering platforms such as Snowflake, DBT, Matillion, and AWS Glue.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate with business users and cross-functional teams to ensure data platform reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Administration & Maintenance

  • Administer and maintain data warehouse platforms across cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
  • Perform patch management, upgrades, and routine maintenance of data infrastructure components.
  • Implement and manage backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.

Monitoring & Automation

  • Set up and maintain monitoring tools and alerts for system health, performance, and data pipeline integrity.
  • Develop automation scripts for routine tasks such as data refreshes, job scheduling, and system checks.
  • Integrate platform operations with enterprise tools (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, ServiceNow, JIRA).

CDC & ETL Tooling

  • Work with real-time CDC tools such as IBM Infosphere and Qlik Replicate to support data ingestion and synchronization.
  • Experience with DB2 iSeries architecture and replication
  • Experience with Oracle redo log mechanism
  • Experience with AWS S3, EC2, SNS, IAM, AMI
  • Support and troubleshoot ETL workflows and data pipelines in development and production environments.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design, test, and deploy ETL solutions based on business requirements.

Cloud Data Engineering Platforms

  • Perform administrative tasks and provide support in environments using Snowflake, DBT, Matillion, or AWS Glue.
  • Possess strong Snowflake SQL and database skills for query optimization, data modeling, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to quickly learn and adapt to other ETL/BI cloud tools as needed.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work closely with business users to understand issues, gather requirements, and drive them to closure.
  • Participate in ETL design reviews, change management processes, and defect resolution.
  • Coordinate with testing teams to validate deliverables and ensure quality standards are met.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data warehouse administration, engineering, or support roles.
  • Hands-on experience with IBM Infosphere and/or Qlik Replicate for real-time CDC.
  • Experience with DB2 iSeries architecture and replication
  • Experience with Oracle redo log mechanism
  • Strong SQL skills, especially in Snowflake, with experience in query optimization and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with administrative tasks in Snowflake, DBT, Matillion, or AWS Glue.
  • Experience with patching, monitoring, automation, and performance tuning of data platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation.

Preferred:

  • Experience with ticketing and workflow tools such as ServiceNow and JIRA.
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools in a data engineering context.

Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and compliance frameworks.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently and across multiple teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
