About the Role

Improving is seeking a Senior Microsoft Fabric Engineer to join our consulting team. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Microsoft Fabric to design, implement, and deliver modern data solutions for our clients. This is a senior-level, hands-on role that blends technical leadership with client engagement. You will serve as both a trusted advisor and solution builder, guiding clients through their data modernization journeys while ensuring successful delivery of high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to understand business goals, assess data needs, and architect scalable solutions using Microsoft Fabric.
  • Design and implement lakehouses, data warehouses, and real-time analytics pipelines in Fabric.
  • Develop and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and integration processes using Data Factory, Dataflows, PySpark, and SQL within Fabric.
  • Deliver Power BI datasets and dashboards to enable business users with self-service analytics.
  • Advise clients on data strategy, governance, and security best practices within Fabric and the broader Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Lead workshops, proof-of-concepts, and solution demos to help clients adopt and maximize Microsoft Fabric.
  • Mentor junior consultants and contribute to Improving s knowledge base and community of practice around Microsoft Fabric.
  • Ensure project success by balancing technical excellence with strong communication and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, BI, or analytics roles, preferably in a consulting or client-facing capacity.
  • Proven, hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric (required).

Deep knowledge of:

Power BI (data modeling, DAX, performance tuning)

SQL and PySpark for building and optimizing pipelines

Azure Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory, and Databricks

  • Strong understanding of modern data architectures (data lakehouse, real-time streaming, data mesh).
  • Experience with data governance, lineage, and security frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills able to translate technical solutions into business value.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, advise clients, and deliver outcomes in a consulting environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with AI/ML integration in Fabric.
  • Experience with DevOps (Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD).
  • Knowledge of MDM, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
  • Previous experience working with Fortune 1000 clients or large-scale enterprise data projects.
